There was a hilarious advertisement that the Hungarian government used to promote cycling that basically said that bike riding “keeps you young and virile.” You can see it here:
Hey, all. Kate (Carectomy blogger) here. Apologies for being dead in the water. We’re just waiting on some administrative stuff to be smoothed out and should be back in business soon. Hold your breath! Thanks for your readership.
Hello there! one of my favorite blogs seems to be dead.javascript:void(0); Can I suggest a topic to help out? In the sunny state of Victoria in the land of Australia we have a state government that seems to really love cars! The Greens party has put together a counter plan to the current car centered options that expands our public transport, walk-ability, and cycle friendliness. Nice little TV add on the first link.
Just kill it already! I’m sick of looking at the smut article every 2 weeks when I check if the site has come back to life. Give up. your dead. Go away already, let a real carectomy web page take your place. gees!
Me too. It shouldn’t take this long to sort out Administration problems. There is lots going on in the auto industry that needs writing about eg Honda are closing plants in the UK for 2 months due to lack of demand, hurrah! Refit the factories to make bicycles and segways!
Ever find yourself in need of hauling something to the recycling depot, but no matter how hard you try you just can manage to stuff it into your little sedan. Fridges, stoves and bathtubs come to mind. Well sometimes those 4-wheeled machines just can’t cut the mustard, and it makes you realize that they just aren’t as convenient as you might once have thought.
So what’s the best way to solve this problem?
Well, it turns out some have turned to the trusty old bike and trailer. As it happens, you can apparently haul an awful lot by bike, and it’ll cost you a lot less than a pick-up truck. http://www.bikesatwork.com/ has a great some awesome info on maximizing the usage of your 2- (or 3-) wheeled steed. Follow some links and you’ll even be pointed to people who moved they’re household by bike in an Ottawa snowstorm. Now that’s impressive!
thanks for posting that smithinparis. Has anyone else got any useful /interesting carectomy style links to share? Happy Christmas to all carectomy comment readers!
I was just cleaning through my RSS reader and I noticed there haven’t been any updates for months. It’s a real shame. Is there any chance of an update?
Will Carectomy be coming back from the dead, or should I pull it from my RSS reader for good?
Happy New Year! 2009 promises to be a wild ride, all cyclists love a big downhill descent, the planet probably appreciates the economic downturn too. Maybe GM will be making bikes in a few months.

Bring back Carectomy or else I will buy a big hummer
I click on the Carectomy link everyday in the hopes that one of these days it’ll be back … oh well, another day goes by
Me too! Twice a day or more (sad I know). If all the other ecogeek networks sites are still running why not this one?
The car industry is up the creek and Carectomy should be reporting it.
Please can we have an update Kate?????
Chrysler shutting all factories for 1 month….
