I've set a mileage goal (not limit) for the year of 8000 miles or less on my car. If I end up meeting it, I will shoot for a lower goal next year. If I miss it, I will try again next year. This is pretty ambitious, seeing as how my yearly commute to work is 6500 miles just by itself.

I've cut my car use by walking, carpooling, and cycling. I do have a little cheat, which is using my motorcycle (I don't take those miles into consideration), but since it gets 50mpg instead of 30mpg and I actually enjoy riding it, I'm not going to count it for this year. (I really dislike driving my car). I may set a separate mileage goal for it next year. I mainly use the motorcycle when the weather is nice, but its too far or I don't have enough time to take the bicycle. It sure beats being stuck in a cage!
