genmotors (3) When Cars Are Extinct

If the auto industry doesn’t die out soon, civilization as we know it certainly will. This cartoon emphasizes the kind of power automakers – like General Motors – have on the American public and lawmakers, and the propagandized notion that ‘what’s good for industry is good for America.’ As the cartoon implies, we’re killing ourselves with cars. More optimistically, however, the cartoon also gives a nod to a future in which cars, like the fossils we burn to run them, will one day be extinct.

Lets just hope that when people get more fuel efficient cars, or fuel becomes cheap again, that people wont become lazy again, and revert to their cars.
