ABC reported that Obama has allotted another $1 million for a Chicago State University “project to equip drones with fuel cells.” Fuel cells would allow the auto-piloted aircraft to fly for far longer than current gas or battery-powered planes. Comments (5)

Let's push for more than baby steps. http://www.time.com/time/magaz...75,00.html
Some folks think that the hummer might actually be better for the environment than a prius, because of the manufacturing methods, etc. I dug to the bottom a bit; check out a real LCA (life-cycle analysis): http://rmi.org/images/PDFs/Transportation/T07-01_DustToDust.pdf -Holden
Holden -- those people are nuts, as the study you point to once again affirms. One study, years ago, with lousy numbers, suggests something which is later roundly disproved...and people still talk about it. Tragic, really.
Holden, I don't like the term "greener." A prius is not good for the environment, it's just less bad.
The kids over at AeroVironment (www.avinc.com) turned a 3 hour battery-powered drone into a 9 hour drone by using fuel cells: http://www.fuelcellsworks.com/Supppage8533.html I could say "Way to think ahead, Barack!" but I'm impressed that he's dedicated to these sorts of things!

Cars are the most inconvenient convenience we have. We're required to have them, but increasingly, we dislike them. At Carectomy, we're trying to figure out how to extract cars from people.
The operation is a little bit painful, but life afterward is much more awesome. If you're interested in carectomies, sign up to our newsletter, or subscribe our RSS feed below.
