| Having been to Copenhagen in the late 1990s, it is very noticeable that it is a very bike friendly city. Columns of bikes two or three wide are at major intersections taking off as the light changes without having to worry (too much) about cars with wide designated bike lanes was really something to see. Motorized vehicle traffic was relatively light, and when one imagined what it would be like if all these bikers were in cars (just like any other noisy, congested city boulevard) and the impact of bikes is clear. There are many, many places here in US where the climate is mild enough for the same. It is very nice to see, though, that even though a very bike friendly place, in Copenhagen, they seem to be doing more, to make the bike the norm rather than the exception as it is in most large cities. |

Cars are the most inconvenient convenience we have. We're required to have them, but increasingly, we dislike them. At Carectomy, we're trying to figure out how to extract cars from people.
The operation is a little bit painful, but life afterward is much more awesome. If you're interested in carectomies, sign up to our newsletter, or subscribe our RSS feed below.
