Recently Vancouver city council voted to award The Co-Operative Auto Network the contract to replace a number of city owned vehicles with car share vehicles. The upshot of this should be a savings to the city and a reduction in GHG, not to mention additional exposure for car sharing. http://vancouver.ca/ctyclerk/n...share.htm
That there is a perceived need for 230 city-owned vehicles for a small city of 58,000 people should be a story in itself!
The City of Buffalo also recently announced that they are reducing their fleet by some 41%. Seems to be a very common occurrence these days. http://www.buffalorising.com/s...e_vehicles

Cars are the most inconvenient convenience we have. We're required to have them, but increasingly, we dislike them. At Carectomy, we're trying to figure out how to extract cars from people.
The operation is a little bit painful, but life afterward is much more awesome. If you're interested in carectomies, sign up to our newsletter, or subscribe our RSS feed below.
