Virgin Vacations has compiled a list of cities that enable travelers to explore by bicycle “in ease and safety.”

From Virgin:
  1. Amsterdam, Netherlands
  2. Portland, Oregon USA
  3. Copenhagen, Denmark
  4. Boulder, CO USA
  5. Davis, CA USA
  6. Sandnes, Norway
  7. Trondheim, Norway
  8. San Francisco, CA USA
  9. Berlin, Germany
  10. Barcelona, Spain
  11. Basel, Switzerland
Cities are judged based on the “Five E’s:” Engineering, Encouragement, Evaluation & planning, Education, and Enforcement. Perennial front-runner Amsterdam, where 40% of all traffic is by bicycle, is joined by four American cities. While it’s great to see U.S. communities making positive strides, it’s hard to imagine that they’re among the most bike-friendly in the world.

Should You Get a Carectomy?

Cars are the most inconvenient convenience we have. We're required to have them, but increasingly, we dislike them. At Carectomy, we're trying to figure out how to extract cars from people.

The operation is a little bit painful, but life afterward is much more awesome. If you're interested in carectomies, sign up to our newsletter, or subscribe our RSS feed below.
